Reservoir engineering programs and economic evaluation spreadsheets
The PEPAC package consists of 20 reservoir engineering programs written in Basic and 3 economic evaluation spreadsheets.
The 20 Petroleum Engineering programs are linked through one master menu and five main menus. However, each program is self-contained and can be used independently. The three economics programs are Excel spreadsheets. The programs in this package are selected for their usefulness in day–to–day operations which fall into six main categories (1) PVT properties for oil, water, and gas; (2) reservoir engineering; (3) natural gas engineering; (4) transient well test analysis; (5) waterflood design calculations, and (6) economic evaluation.
PVT properties' program includes PVT properties for oil, gas, gas composition and water. Reservoir engineering contents include oil and gas volumetric (with built-in recovery factor correlations); oil and gas material balance; gas material balance (with water influx from infinite linear aquifer); relative permeability calculations from field performance and numerous empirical correlations; and forecasting performance of solution-gas drive reservoirs. Natural Gas Engineering contents include bottomhole flowing and shut-in pressure from surface flowing or shut-in pressures; gas well deliverability calculations; and gas pseudopressure calculations. The Transient Test Analysis contents include oil well buildup test analysis (constant and variable rate); gas well buildup test analysis (using pressure, pressure square, or pseudopressure); variable rate drawdown test analysis; and fractional flow calculations; Waterflood Calculations include waterflood (five-spot) design; and forecasting mature waterfloods.
The 3 economic evaluation spreadsheets include oil and gas economic evaluation programs (30-year cash flow at up to three scenarios of price and cost escalations); a utility spreadsheet to create cash-flow summaries for user selected cases; and an international production-sharing agreement cash-flow model that uses the basic elements of the production-sharing concept used all over the world to calculate project economics for exploration ventures or production acquisitions (includes multiple branches for CR, PO and ECR). Also includes log-probability and lognormal-probability graph papers. Accompanied by a comprehensive user manual. Economics spreadsheets are available in MS Excel 2003.
