Excel programs covering drilling and production engineering
The PEPAC2 package consists of 40 Excel spreadsheet programs covering the areas of drilling and production engineering. Basic drilling engineering contents include pump cycles, pump factors, and annular capacity; particle slip velocity; direction well survey calculations; preplanning wellbore trajectory; bit hydraulics optimization; friction factor calculation; formation pore pressure plot, bit performance evaluation; drilling cost per foot, drilling mud calculations for viscosity of drilling fluids, mud flow properties and solids analysis; hydrocyclone and centrifuge performance evaluation; mud weight calculations; barite requirements; mud equivalent circulating density; mud circulating initiation pressure; pressure and density of gas column; hydrostatic behavior of gas-cut mud; surge and swab pressure; friction pressure losses; cement additive calculations for weight and volume of cement slurry; weighted cement control; saltwater cement calculation; and primary, plugback, and squeeze cementing calculations. Kick control applications include kick tolerance, length, and density; kick severity; ad pump pressure schedule for well control operations. Production engineering applications include waterconing correlations, sucker-rod pump design, equilibrium flash calculations, three-phase oil/gas separator design, length and force changes in tubing, hydraulic fracture design calculations, and gas flow calculations. Accompanied by a comprehensive user manual. Spreadsheets available in MS Excel 2003.
